3:00 PM CASE STUDY: Robots in Health Care Could Lead to a Doctorless Hospital

Hospitals globally have been slow to adopt robotics and AI into patient care, although both have been widely used and tested in other industries. However robotics and AI are now finding their way into the healthcare sector, transforming practices, improving health outcomes and quality and efficiency of services. In this session, Anjali will discuss:

  • The implications of robotics and AI on our hospitals, clinicians and patients
  • Whether the new hospitals being built are ready for a robotic future – why it is important to consider how such technology can be integrated from the get go
  • The emerging concept of “factory-like” hospitals and plans for large-scale role changes for the humans working in a future robotic environment
  • How we might address the issue of accountability for failures or negligence in clinical performance
