Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre’s new $1.1 billion ultra-modern building is a physical and tangible expression of the quality of care and research delivered by Peter Mac staff. Peter Mac’s new building, the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC), has had extraordinary benefits beyond those first imagined by enriching their workforce, improving their commercial positioning, expanding their capacity to translate research into patient care, with clinician researchers accelerating their vision to be an internationally recognised top tier comprehensive cancer centre. In light of this, Dale will discuss how Peter mac is:

  • Investing in future technologies and highend infrastructure, such as cellular therapies, supported by $16 million clinical clean rooms built to the highest global quality standard
  • Breaking down barriers between disciplines, sectors and geographies and attracting and retaining top global talent and is focused on educating the future cancer workforce, including clinician researchers
  • Building their international partnerships, resulting in global investment in Peter Mac’s cancer research, creating more highly skilled jobs and improving knowledge transfer

An improved patient experience is associated with better health outcomes and a more positive workplace. Reducing the frustrations of the complex and bewildering healthcare system will improve the patient experience. This panel will explore the issues around patient experience and leadership’s role in attuning the organisation’s culture and values. It will also consider the role technology can play in empowering our patients:

  • The role of leaders and consumers in culture change to foster the right attitudes
  • How to effectively utilise patient feedback as a significant aspect of your change strategy
  • Making your healthcare organisation ‘customer focussed’
  • Co-design of clinical information systems to empower patients and clinicans
